About Me

Hi! My name is Cai Ling, Founder of Soulful Of Love.

I am a Singaporean female in my 30s. During Covid, I moved to Bangkok for further studies and work. Circumstances led me to drop my exciting overseas life and return to Singapore for an office job offer in March 2023. One year later, in March 2024, circumstances led me to quit the same job in Singapore. The next month, in April 2024, I became a certified Reiki 1 practitioner 'by chance'. The following month, in May 2024, Soulful Of Love was born as a service business from a middle-of-the-night inspiration.

Today, I am now a certified Reiki Master, aspiring to be a Reiki teacher in the near future.

Frankly, I could never imagine myself as an entrepreneur, starting a business of any sort, let alone a service business. I had always believed that I could only be an office worker, working for people in high positions of leadership and power.

What is a traditional Reiki treatment?

A traditional Reiki treatment means that the practitioner has learnt and acquired knowledge of an ancient healing craft called Reiki that existed more than a century ago. This knowledge has been passed down to the practitioner via a lineage that can be traced back to the original founder of the Reiki system, who is none other than Sensei Usui Mikao. This also means that you are in good hands, both literally and metaphorically. The essence of Soulful Of Love's practitioner is that of diligence and cultivation in the ancient craft and knowledge of Reiki that originated in Japan more than a century ago and later spread to the rest of the world. You can also be assured that this form of Reiki is in its pure form, meaning it is not mixed with other energy healing modalities.

Is a Reiki treatment like a spa or a massage?

No, a Reiki treatment is not a spa, it is also not a massage. Unlike a spa where you may be asked to remove clothing and you may come into contact with water, a Reiki treatment does not use water and I will never ask you to remove your clothing. In fact, I'd recommend you to come for a session dressed in loose and comfortable clothing (think linen/cotton clothing).

Contrary to traditional massage where hands will be kneading your body, a Reiki treatment will involve the practitioner's hands hovering above your body. There may be light touch on your non-sensitive body parts, like your shoulder, knees, ankles, and feet. Depending on your comfort level, it is also possible for a session to be totally hands-off, meaning no hand contact at all. If you'd like a no hand contact Reiki treatment session, you'd just need to let me know before the session.

Who can receive Reiki energy?

Reiki energy can be received by any age, sex, race, religion, as long as the individual or guardian consents to the Reiki treatment. It is recommended for young persons below 18 to be accompanied by their guardian for the session. For pregnant women, it is recommended to check with your gynaecologist before scheduling a session with me.

Where is Reiki energy from? Is it from the practitioner?

Reiki energy is channelled from the Universe, also known as universal energy. The practitioner channels the universal energy to your body with minimal hand contact. When channelled correctly, the practitioner will not feel tired after the session, because the practitioner is not using his or her own energy. You can think of the practitioner's body as a vessel for Reiki energy to flow through to you.

How do I know whether Reiki energy is real?

Based on my clients' experience, the only way to confirm the existence of Reiki energy is to experience it for yourself! Most, if not all of my clients, have felt Reiki energy in the form of heat, tingling sensation, static, or an inner flow. Feeling is indeed experiencing and believing. Just because we cannot see energy, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Experience one session for yourself and come to your own conclusion on whether Reiki is real or it is just woo-woo!

How can a Reiki treatment help me?

A Reiki treatment can help you relieve physical, emotional, mental, spiritual pain and distress in your body, by using universal energy to clear energetic, inner, subconscious blockages in your body that cannot be seen with your bare eyes. Consistently receiving Reiki treatments can help you achieve a more balanced state of health and wellbeing and improve your quality of life with positive, gradual adjustments to your thoughts, actions, habits.

The list below will give you a better idea of how a Reiki treatment can benefit you:

Physical pain: relieve headache, migraine, body aches, body stiffness, body pain, chronic illness, etc
Emotional/mental pain: relieve stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, grief, mental fatigue, emotional burden, heartbreak, etc

Best of all, it is gentle and non-invasive!

What would a person normally feel during and after a Reiki treatment?

During a Reiki treatment, if the person is sensitive to energy, he or she may feel sensations such as heat, tingling, static, waves of energy, or an inner flow. People who are very sensitive to energy may even see visions or colour during the session. Otherwise, the person may simply feel relaxed, calm, and peaceful. Some people may even fall asleep and snore during the session and that is perfectly fine.

Most of the time, people feel thirsty and tired right after a Reiki session and this is perfectly normal too. Thirst and fatigue occurs after a session because negative energy stored in the body is being cleared away, similar to a body detox and how you would typically feel thirsty and tired after a gym session. Some people may also experience vivid dreams and intense emotions a few days after a Reiki session. This is nothing to be alarmed about, as a Reiki treatment also works on our subconscious.

Do I need to fast before a Reiki treatment?

It is recommended to avoid a heavy meal just before a Reiki treatment sesion. This is so that the Reiki energy can flow better through your body and it will be more comfortable for you when you lie down on a less full stomach for in-person Reiki treatment sessions.

Is it really possible for me to receive Reiki energy remotely?

Yes, it is really possible for you to receive Reiki energy remotely. Once you understand the concept that universal energy is everywhere, and that it can transcend physical distance and barriers, you will understand that there is actually no difference between an in-person session and a remote session. The only thing is for a remote session, I would need a point of reference to connect to you before starting the remote session. This point of reference is knowing how you look like, either over a video call or looking at a recent photo of you. It takes a few seconds for me to connect to you and to the universal energy for a remote session.

Which is better, a remote Reiki session or an in-person Reiki session?

With the power and of today's technology, a remote live session is as equally effective and powerful as an in-person session. A remote live session is therefore a perfect substitute for an in-person session, especially if you find traveling to my home studio is a physical challenge for you. Remote sessions will be conducted over a video call platform of your choice (e.g. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook). If it is not possible for you to do the remote session with me over video call, then I'll request a recent photo of you to connect with you first before starting the remote session for you at an agreed timeslot.

Will I receive support after a Reiki treatment session?

Yes, our interaction does not end after I complete the Reiki treatment session for you. I will also follow up by checking in on how you are feeling after the session and provide you with the necessary support and recommendations, regardless of whether you are coming back for another session or not.
